With the 2018-19 college basketball season coming to a close just a few ago, real die hard college basketball fans will speculate about what the next season will hold. While many key players from NCAA Championship contending teams have either declared for the draft or simply graduated, there are many returning players, as well as players coming in that could help mold their squads into early favorites to win the title. North Carolina is always one of those teams that comes to mind when I think about championship caliber teams. They suffered a tough defeat to Auburn in the sweet 16 in this year’s tournament, but as long as Roy Williams sticks around, they will always have a chance to get to the finish line. His national championship victory in 2017 really impressed me because of the way he was able to utilize every player on that roster. Were they the most athletic team, flashy team or fast team? No not necessarily, but everyone understood their roles, and did what was needed in order to cap off an unforgettable season. They may be losing sharpshooters Cam Johnson and Kenny Williams, do it all point guard Coby White, consistent scorer Luke Maye, and hustling and rebounding machine Nassir Little, but UNC fans have nothing to worry about. Next year they will be loaded at the guard position with their additions of Jeremiah Francis, Anthony Harris and the top ranked point guard in the 2019 class Cole Anthony. Not to mention Leaky Black, Brandon Robinson, and Brandon Huffman are all returning to play another year in Chapel Hill. I honestly feel like if UNC is able to put it all together this season, they will be one of the top picks to win next year’s NCAA tournament.
